Whilst the power of ‘selfies’ have helped to raise lots of money for charities. There is also a downside to this new phenomenon of taking pictures. Firstly, I have briefly explored the impact it has on body image through another article online and even more recently, it emerged that a driver had died moments after posing a ‘selfie’ to Facebook. Therefore, through my photographs I want to show how it is the photographs are taking over our lives. Rather than photographs being taken to capture memorable moments of our lives, it seems that we are taking photos of ourselves and almost anything more than ever. So I want to show the extremity of the digital era of photography through my photos.
I have decided to take some images to show how the media’s photography can damage self-esteem, knock body confidence and allow people to develop insecurities.
