Edward Preston

Through looking at the digital age’s effect on photography and what this has had on body image i have been looking at a number of photographers. I really liked the style of Edward Preston’s work in terms of using the frame to cut the body into sections rather than seeing the whole thing which suggests a lack of identity by taking away the faces which adds to the meanings we have about body image and not feeling accepted. I also liked the fact they are in black and white because i think it makes it stand out more and enables you to see the shadows along the skin and all the lines and bumps of the individuals bodies which is layed to bare. Some of the images where the individuals head is in the frame is turned away as they hold themselves into their body as if they are ashamed and shy.
